Joziah's SCHOOL Birthday

Coincidentally, Joziah's teacher scheduled his school birthday one day before Ezra's real birthday. I was fortunate to be able to participate in this sweet event.
Mrs. Wright is the best teacher, and she really makes those kids feel special! First, the birthday child lists all their favorite things, and the other children make birthday cards illustrated with all those favorites. She takes each kid one by one and writes as they dictate a special message to the birthday kid. She staples all these pages into a book for keepsake. She also gives a gift: Joziah got a book, big squishy frog toy, and some bookmarks.
Later, at party time, I got to bring the treats to class: Worms in Dirt, chosen and made by Joziah. Before we ate, Joziah sat up on a stool wearing a crown while the other kids sang Happy Birthday. Then we enjoyed the treats while she played a series of cute birthday song videos on the smart board. It turned into a dance party that I was all too happy to join (some of the kids, including Joziah, enjoyed this from the comfort of their chairs!)
This was just the most genuinely sweet little party and I feel totally privileged I got to be a part of it. Mrs. Wright is absolutely the best I could have dreamed of for Joziah's first year of public school, and he is thriving! I volunteer at his class on Mondays, and it's absolutely one of the best parts of my week.

I'm so glad you enjoy your first grade teacher! My first grade teacher was Mrs. Nellie Clem. She was my absolute favorite! My parents was acquainted with her and her husband so I got to say hello to her for years after she taught me. She is the one who taught me to read and that is when I discovered the wonderful world of books. You are blessed!
Love you,
Grandma June
