Zac's Birthday

I had my birthday while camping in the mountains so we have no photos. Ha!

On to Zachary's! It was a Sunday, which my kids always hate. So he got to do fun birthday stuff, like watch a couple movies he picked, the day before. For breakfast on his b-day I made Peach Bars. Lunch/dinner (we eat right after church) was pizza. I had picked up a Cowboy Pizza from Papa Murphy's, then made a homemade pepperoni with stuffed crust.

We had local family over for a combined Zac/Sara celebration. Originally I'd wanted Zane to be part of their big days but he was going to be at scout camp all week. So I arranged a combined party for Sunday, and then Zane had to leave earlier and missed the whole thing anyway! Oh well, I saved a piece of cake in the freezer for him. And that cake. . .

Strawberry (doctored up cake mix) with fresh strawberry frosting (Zac and I were in LOVE with it) and fresh strawberries on top. My favorite cake in months!

Zachary is eleven years old, a boy scout now. He is a peacemaker, a great brother and a friend to everyone. We sure love him and know life wouldn't be as sweet without him.

Walker Jesse Lloyd was born on April 23 at 10:41 in the morning. He weighed 8lbs 5oz and was 19.7 inches long. We all completely adore him!!

Christmas Concert

Z ac and Sara participated in their school's Christmas concert last week. Zac is in the 4th grade and wasn't very excited to be in the chorus of the play (he wanted to be in the audience) but he was a good sport. He wore the santa hat, sang, and even played the kazoo when the time came! S ara was beyond excited for the program! She participated with the 3rd grade in a song and light stick show and did well, but her favorite part was singing with the honor choir SunShine Singers. They meet once a week after school, and Sara loves every minute of it! W arning: I took this video with my old digital camera, while holding Joziah on my lap (who occasionally fought me for the camera), and the quality is terrible. Sweet and Sour Chicken

Another sister-in-law challenge here, to post a favorite family recipe. I don't make this one all the time, but it is a true favorite of everyone here and my mom got rave reviews this Christmas when she took it to a dinner at the Boise ID Temple, where my dad works. We make it for special occasions. Sweet & Sour Chicken The following sauce will cover enough chicken to fill a 9 x 13" baking dish. You may choose whichever chicken type your family enjoys. Growing up, we used bone-in chicken pieces, but these days I like to take boneless skinless chicken breasts and cut them into strips. Sprinkle pieces of chicken with salt and pepper. Roll pieces in corn startch and then into beaten egg. Fry till golden brown, using high heat. (my Mom fries in oil, I just spray the fry pan) Put pieces of chicken into baking dish.
