Sara's Birthday- Updated!

Kory's birthday was the day after Zac's and the day before Sara's. He got a new fishing pole, which he is super excited about! I didn't think he would want a blog posting all about him, so I piggybacked it here onto Sara's. ;)

Even though Sara shared a family celebration with Zac, we also let her have her own special day on her actual birthday. She chose Cookie Crisp cereal for breakfast, Mac-a-Ramen for lunch, and Sticky Chicken with dill pickle chips for dinner.

Her "cake" was a giant cinnamon roll. I'd never made one of those before, so the whole thing was an experiment, but it turned out excellent! And we got to eat leftovers for breakfast the next morning!

This year Sara decided she was ready to get her ears pierced. She has been considering it for at least a year, now. Grandma and Grandpa Jensen paid for it as their gift, and the Friday after Sara's birthday Grandma, Hanna, Sara and I took a girls' trip to the mall got it done!

Sara is a smart, creative, spirited girl who always keeps life interesting for the family. We love you, Birdy!

oh man...I knew all these were coming up and I still forgot! (sorry Kory!!) Happy late birthdays to you all. I love seeing your cakes! Wow, that cinnamon roll cake is GORGEOUS! Zac and Sara are both getting so big.

Christmas Concert

Z ac and Sara participated in their school's Christmas concert last week. Zac is in the 4th grade and wasn't very excited to be in the chorus of the play (he wanted to be in the audience) but he was a good sport. He wore the santa hat, sang, and even played the kazoo when the time came! S ara was beyond excited for the program! She participated with the 3rd grade in a song and light stick show and did well, but her favorite part was singing with the honor choir SunShine Singers. They meet once a week after school, and Sara loves every minute of it! W arning: I took this video with my old digital camera, while holding Joziah on my lap (who occasionally fought me for the camera), and the quality is terrible. Sweet and Sour Chicken

Another sister-in-law challenge here, to post a favorite family recipe. I don't make this one all the time, but it is a true favorite of everyone here and my mom got rave reviews this Christmas when she took it to a dinner at the Boise ID Temple, where my dad works. We make it for special occasions. Sweet & Sour Chicken The following sauce will cover enough chicken to fill a 9 x 13" baking dish. You may choose whichever chicken type your family enjoys. Growing up, we used bone-in chicken pieces, but these days I like to take boneless skinless chicken breasts and cut them into strips. Sprinkle pieces of chicken with salt and pepper. Roll pieces in corn startch and then into beaten egg. Fry till golden brown, using high heat. (my Mom fries in oil, I just spray the fry pan) Put pieces of chicken into baking dish.
