Joziah's Birthday

Joziah has turned three years old, and really seems to be growing and maturing lately. He speaks really well and is just the cutest little boy! He is super-fun to be around. (I am so excited to be at the point where my youngest child has turned 3! Babies were awesome and fun, but I am ready to sleep through the night and have adventures with older kids. )

So, Joziah's birthday was on a Thursday and I made him a delicious Eclaire Cake for just us. He didn't care much for it, but it had a Diego candle on top, so that was great. He opened a couple of presents that day, including a toy kitchen.

The next day we met the Jensens and Lawerences at Nat Soo Pah, so we celebrated his birthday with them. He didn't even try a piece of this cake (but isn't it cute?) He got some great gifts, including cash, candy, a tractor that makes sounds, a bubble lawnmower, raisins (a favorite) and some Jake and the Neverland Pirates figures.

 Happy Birthday Joziah! You're such a fun and cute guy and you make our family complete!

That cake is adorable! Mae just told me she wants a lawnmower like that for her next birthday. Hope Kory is feeling better, it looks like you made it a fun day anyways...good for you!!

Christmas Concert

Z ac and Sara participated in their school's Christmas concert last week. Zac is in the 4th grade and wasn't very excited to be in the chorus of the play (he wanted to be in the audience) but he was a good sport. He wore the santa hat, sang, and even played the kazoo when the time came! S ara was beyond excited for the program! She participated with the 3rd grade in a song and light stick show and did well, but her favorite part was singing with the honor choir SunShine Singers. They meet once a week after school, and Sara loves every minute of it! W arning: I took this video with my old digital camera, while holding Joziah on my lap (who occasionally fought me for the camera), and the quality is terrible. Sweet and Sour Chicken

Another sister-in-law challenge here, to post a favorite family recipe. I don't make this one all the time, but it is a true favorite of everyone here and my mom got rave reviews this Christmas when she took it to a dinner at the Boise ID Temple, where my dad works. We make it for special occasions. Sweet & Sour Chicken The following sauce will cover enough chicken to fill a 9 x 13" baking dish. You may choose whichever chicken type your family enjoys. Growing up, we used bone-in chicken pieces, but these days I like to take boneless skinless chicken breasts and cut them into strips. Sprinkle pieces of chicken with salt and pepper. Roll pieces in corn startch and then into beaten egg. Fry till golden brown, using high heat. (my Mom fries in oil, I just spray the fry pan) Put pieces of chicken into baking dish.
