Life is good, isn't it?

It's so great to be a kid, isn't it? Our four oldest are having a slumber party tonight on the tramp! Zac has been wanting to spot Venus, and tonight was supposed to be especially good for that, along with seeing a super-skinny crescent moon. So we drove to a nearby school (where we could see the horizon). We never did spot the moon or Venus, but the kids enjoyed the playground at dusk.

I told them soon it would be my turn to sleep out on the tramp; I don't think I've done that before, and it looks fun! We are so glad we got that trampoline- it's the source of constant fun, and exercise!


On a totally different topic, check out these dummies, modeled after (and by) Zane, Ezra and Zac. Pretty funny, and clever. I love it when kids use their imaginations!

Walker Jesse Lloyd was born on April 23 at 10:41 in the morning. He weighed 8lbs 5oz and was 19.7 inches long. We all completely adore him!!

Christmas Concert

Z ac and Sara participated in their school's Christmas concert last week. Zac is in the 4th grade and wasn't very excited to be in the chorus of the play (he wanted to be in the audience) but he was a good sport. He wore the santa hat, sang, and even played the kazoo when the time came! S ara was beyond excited for the program! She participated with the 3rd grade in a song and light stick show and did well, but her favorite part was singing with the honor choir SunShine Singers. They meet once a week after school, and Sara loves every minute of it! W arning: I took this video with my old digital camera, while holding Joziah on my lap (who occasionally fought me for the camera), and the quality is terrible. Sweet and Sour Chicken

Another sister-in-law challenge here, to post a favorite family recipe. I don't make this one all the time, but it is a true favorite of everyone here and my mom got rave reviews this Christmas when she took it to a dinner at the Boise ID Temple, where my dad works. We make it for special occasions. Sweet & Sour Chicken The following sauce will cover enough chicken to fill a 9 x 13" baking dish. You may choose whichever chicken type your family enjoys. Growing up, we used bone-in chicken pieces, but these days I like to take boneless skinless chicken breasts and cut them into strips. Sprinkle pieces of chicken with salt and pepper. Roll pieces in corn startch and then into beaten egg. Fry till golden brown, using high heat. (my Mom fries in oil, I just spray the fry pan) Put pieces of chicken into baking dish. Sauce: 3/4 cup sugar, half brown and half white 1/4 cup water or chicken stock 1/2 cup vinegar 1 Tablespoon soy sauce 1/4 cup ketchup dash of salt Heat until sugar i...
