Dinosaurs! part 2

We spent Saturday night and all day Sunday with Grandma June and Grandpa Lloyd in Colorado. At first the littler kids were nervous to be sleeping in such a big, "creepy" house, but they got over it quickly. When she woke up Sunday morning Sara announced that she never wanted to leave! We had packed all our church clothes in one bag. . . and, you guessed it, left it home! So while Grandma and Grandpa went to church we had our own little meeting and then went on a nature hike.
Later that day we all drove around, checking out the ranch and the places Kory used to play. Here is the view from above the Jones' place. Beautiful!

I thought I'd take some pictures of Grandma's house for those of you who haven't been there!
Living room, with Grandma's pretty curtains!
Kitchen, obviously.

While we were there Grandma and Grandpa treated us to two fabulous breakfasts, a delicious hamburger dinner, and traditional Sunday-evening popcorn, which somehow always tastes better when Grandma makes it! Thanks for the awesome visit!!

Monday morning we drove to Dinosaur National Monument. They have a visitors' center area, then you ride a shuttle bus to the Quarry Exhibit Hall. The bus was one of Joziah's favorite things.
His other favorite was this lizard we found on a rock wall when we were hiking:
The Quarry was pretty intense: a huge rock wall with tons of dinosaur fossils embedded in it. Lots to see!

Can you see the head and neck of this guy? He's a camarasaurus.
.

Next we headed back into Utah and stopped at the Utah Field House of Natural History museum. This place was excellent! Lots of interesting exhibits, a little movie, a large children's discovery area, and an outdoor walk filled with life-like dinosaur statues. And. . .apparently our camera memory was full because I don't have any pictures from there. Anyway, it's well worth stopping for!

We spent the night there in Vernal, then did a lot of driving Tuesday to get back home. We stopped a few times along the way to eat, stretch our legs, or shop. We saw the newly-constructed Brigham City Temple, which is SO beautiful! We ended the trip with a visit to some of our friends from Rupert and ice cream cones from A&W.  It was a great vacation and we made tons of good memories.

oh, it is so so fun to see their house! Weird, it's just another Lloyd home! Glad you had such a fun time. Coming home from vacation for me is always semi-depressing but a relief as well.

Looks like tons of fun! I haven't seen that house since I was like 14 and we had a big reunion there. A nice trip down memory lane for Kory! Mom said she loved having you guys there. Connell looked at all the dinosaur pictures with me and says he wants to come with you guys next time! :) Great memories for the kids!
