Finding winter

This winter has been the mildest I remember for many years, and I'm not complaining! The kids weren't too impressed with out "brown" Christmas, but the gifts and festivities made up for the lack of snow.

Yesterday we decided to go find winter. We purchased our family's first sleds, Hanna and I bought new matching snow boots in the same size (!), we dug out all our winter gear and headed for the hills. During the hour trip there the kids displayed constant doubt that we would find any snow. (I was having some silent doubts of my own.) But we finally got high enough in elevation that the snow appeared!
Are we there yet?
We had the sledding hill all to ourselves and it was a very fast run, due to underlying ice. We had such a fun time! Joziah wasn't too into it, but he had a pleasant time. Zac was our only bad wipe-out, but he got over it quickly enough. It was one of the most enjoyable times I remember having outside during the winter.

Zane is on the left; I didn't get a better shot of him, probably because he
was always climbing way up and zooming down so fast.

Hey, good lookin'! ha

Thank you to the Lawrences for giving us directions to your sledding place.
Maybe next year we can go together!

oh, that looks great! I love the new pics on the side-bar. They are super cute. We finally bought some snow suits on sale for the girls and are waiting to use them...
