Snails?!
Sunday morning we were a little mystified to find a SNAIL on our kitchen counter. What?? It was a busy Sunday morning so I just left it there while I continued doing my hair. I finished and went to the kitchen and placed the snail in a cup with some water and a leaf, just for fun. As I was washing off the counter my cloth whacked another snail! I added it to the cup with its friend and was now starting to think this was no coincidence. It was then that I realized I'd left a couple of potted plants on the counter; I'd planned to plant them Monday. Sure enough, there was another, tinier snail clinging to the side of the pot. Ah-hah- that's where they were coming from! You'd better believe I put the plants outside right away.
So, for now, the Lloyd family has a few pets. Zane named the first one "Sticky" and Zac calls another one "Slimy." Sticky and Slimy are about 1/2 " long, when fully extended. Mr. No-name is about half that size. It's rare to catch them moving, but I'll come into the room and find one several inches from its last location. They even crawl (slide? glide?) over the rim of the glass and hang out on the outside. Snails are kind of cool, in a gross way!
Here is a picture from this morning. Ezra was playing a little Lego Star Wars and Joziah thought it looked like fun. We start 'em early around here, apparently! (Sorry the pic is a little blurry.)
