The moment he's been waiting for...

Joziah finally got to try "solid" food last night. He'll be 6 months on Monday, and he has been really watching us eat and trying to grab the food.
Look how happy and eager he is!
We fed him baby oatmeal cereal and he was delighted! We expected him to make a yucky face, or spit some out, but he just gobbled it up as fast as we gave it to him. It was a bittersweet moment for me; he's just one step closer to growing up.
Mmm-mmmm!

Ahh, he looks so excited! I bet that is kind of sad with all of the milestones, knowing that he is your last baby. A new phase of life! I am feeling pretty satisfied right now with my two boys and two girls. But that is good for a while!

Christmas Concert

Z ac and Sara participated in their school's Christmas concert last week. Zac is in the 4th grade and wasn't very excited to be in the chorus of the play (he wanted to be in the audience) but he was a good sport. He wore the santa hat, sang, and even played the kazoo when the time came! S ara was beyond excited for the program! She participated with the 3rd grade in a song and light stick show and did well, but her favorite part was singing with the honor choir SunShine Singers. They meet once a week after school, and Sara loves every minute of it! W arning: I took this video with my old digital camera, while holding Joziah on my lap (who occasionally fought me for the camera), and the quality is terrible. Sweet and Sour Chicken

Another sister-in-law challenge here, to post a favorite family recipe. I don't make this one all the time, but it is a true favorite of everyone here and my mom got rave reviews this Christmas when she took it to a dinner at the Boise ID Temple, where my dad works. We make it for special occasions. Sweet & Sour Chicken The following sauce will cover enough chicken to fill a 9 x 13" baking dish. You may choose whichever chicken type your family enjoys. Growing up, we used bone-in chicken pieces, but these days I like to take boneless skinless chicken breasts and cut them into strips. Sprinkle pieces of chicken with salt and pepper. Roll pieces in corn startch and then into beaten egg. Fry till golden brown, using high heat. (my Mom fries in oil, I just spray the fry pan) Put pieces of chicken into baking dish.
