Lava Trip

So it's been two months since my last entry. Oops!
On the 22nd of May, our family took our first summer vacation, fit in early since we're expecting our baby any day. Some friends offered the use of their timeshare in Lava Hot Springs, ID, which we happily accepted.Saturday we spent most of the day in Pocatello- shopping, going to the theater (The Lightning Thief), and visiting museums. We all enjoyed the Fort Hall replica. We got rained and snowed on, but we survived!
Sunday we spent mostly hanging out in the condo but we enjoyed some walks through town.
Monday started out cold and rainy, but we braved it to accomplish an important goal: allow every child (with the exception of Ezra) to catch a fish. We tried the river, but that was taking too long, so we patronized Smith's Trout Haven (stocked ponds.) In no time each of the children had caught a 12 or 13 inch trout. Success! We cooked them for dinner that night, and they were actually pretty good. That evening, the local pool was unexpectedly closed but we made the best of it and enjoyed some time in the condo's two hot tubs, which we had all to ourselves.
Tuesday we packed up and headed back through Pocatello. We visited the Pocatello Zoo, which was really neat. One of our favorite animals was the grizzly bear, who was chowing on a big log of hamburger. After the zoo we went to Outer Limits, a big arcade and play place. This was the highlight of the trip for a couple of the kids. The big ones played tons of arcade games, the little ones climbed and bounced their way around the play zone, and we all enjoyed some really good pizza for dinner before heading home.

That sounds like such a fun vacation! And you seemed to be able to enjoy it all even with the bad weather. Fun times!
