Fasnachtskuchlein

Image
We've always pronounced the name of these Swiss Cakes something like Foznogelties . The translation for Fasnachtskuchlein is "carnival cakes" and they're a traditional treat in Switzerland at carnival time. Some of my ancestors are from Switzerland and this recipe has been passed down through the family. I hadn't eaten them since I was a little girl, and this year Lisa, Mom and I invited Grandma Jensen to come to Twin Falls and show us how they're made. We enjoyed spending time together, cooking, and eating! Thanks so much Grandma!!             I think I promised someone that I wouldn't put her picture on the blog, but you ladies all look lovely!   Measuring and mixing. Laying out on a clean sheet to dry before cooking. The finished product- enjoy! Because of the high fat and sugar content you probably wouldn't want to eat these more than once a year, or decade- ha! Christmas Lights

Image
I got an early Christmas present this Saturday: Kory bought and put up Christmas lights on our house for me! He installed them as a surprise while I was out shopping. I have always wanted some, so it was so exciting for me! We think we'll add on more each year, but I love what we have so far! The main house lights are a big blue bulb- very pretty in person! It's difficult to capture lights on camera...

Captain Ezra

Image
I f you remember, earlier this year Ezra was all about Star Wars. "Call me Luke," is what we heard fifty times a day. Well, he's in another cute phase now: Pirates of the Caribbean! He doesn't make us call him a special name, but he has to dress "like a pirate" every single day. Which includes shorts (why??), a striped shirt, and a pirate coat. The pirate coat is really a button-up shirt about five sizes too large for him. The kid is so full of personality, and so much fun!

Our New Home

Image
Ever since we moved in (a month ago) I've been meaning to take pictures of our new house, but every time I thought of it, toys were strewn all around. This afternoon Kory pitched in and helped clean up and I managed to take a few! Living room, as you walk in the front door. Basement family room. We want to create built-in bookshelves one day.
