Hammy

Meet the newest member of our family: Hammy the Hamster! Joziah got Hammy for an early birthday present. He was able to pick Hammy out himself at Petco. Hammy is a Roborovski dwarf hamster, and just the cutest! It turns out- hamsters are the ideal pet for us: they aren't demanding, don't need companionship, are quiet, and the best feature is—they don't smell at all! These next pics are from "bathtime bonding." That's when the boys carry the habitat into our bathtub and get Hammy out and let him run around. This helps him get used to their scents while not escaping! It's really worked and he's grown quite familiar with Joziah and Ezra (as these pictures prove!)

Phoenix, Arizona

For an early spring break this year we waned to give our kids their first opportunity to fly on an airplane. We also really wanted to get away to somewhere warm.  A trip to Phoenix fulfilled both! We flew out from Salt Lake. Federal regulation requires constant mask wearing on airplanes and they don't play around. But we didn't let that ruin our fun. Kory and Joziah sat together and the rest of us were all together several rows ahead.  We had rented a condo through Airbnb. It was a two bedrooom two bath, with bunk beds to sleep six in the second bedroom. The location was great and we had a pool and hot tub about 20 steps away from our front door.  We used the pool a lot, and we usually had it all to ourselves. We went to Wildlife World- a zoo and aquarium. It's an all-day commitment and we saw so many cool animals and mammals! Maybe a few too many birds- they were everywhere! We spent some time hiking, visiting landmarks, and shopping.  We ate at the Sugar Bowl which...

Sports

Winter sports season has just wrapped up. What a relief! Although it was great that the kids were able to stay active doing things they enjoy, it was also pretty crazy for our family with three practices and/or games most days of the week. Conveniently, Covid didn't allow us to attend in person for the first half of the season, so we were able to watch from home (via Facebook live streaming) and skip some traveling. Zac- JV Basketball Zac started out the season with two injuries in a row, but he came back strong. He had a great time playing on a team with all of his closest friends. It was so fun to see how well they work together.  Sara- Wrestling Sara surprised us all by giving up gymnastics for wrestling! (She still has a job coaching the younger kids at gymnastics.) Next school year there will be an official Girls Wrestling state tournament, but this year Sara got to wrestle both boys and girls. She learned a lot and had a great time. Spectator limits were stricter than at bask...
